Lankoski Nature Trail
The nature trail is located nearby the Pori–Vaasa highway by the river Merikarvianjoki in Lankoski. The two-kilometre trail starts at the highway E8 service area at Köffi restaurant. There is a guide sign at the beginning, and, alongside the trail, there are information signs about the environment and the history.
A rare flower, fumewort (Corydalis intermedia) and common hazel (Corylus avellana) are found in the herb-rich forest reserve in Lankoski.
Nearby Köffi in Lankoski, there is a handsome stone bridge that has been approved as a museum bridge.
There is a walkway under the highway leading from Köffi to the idyllic Kahvimylly and the fishermen’s hut. There is an information point at Köffi, and river fishing licenses are sold there as well.
Hamskeri Nature Trail
In connection with Hamskeri marina in the Oura archipelago, there is a 600-metre nature trail. The area is excellent for bird-watching.
Piinukoski Hiking and Nature Trail (Fartmyyry Nature Trail)
The trail starts at the centre of Merikarvia by the road Kivirannantie, opposite the old school. The trail winds between the two branches of the river Merikarvianjoki in forest and river landscapes. The length of the trail is 2.7 km.
Sälttöö Campfire Site and Kasala birdwatching tower
Sälttöö is the place by the sea shore in Köörtilä. There is a lean-to and a campfire site, and you’ll find it with the help of signposts from Pooskerintie road.
In Kasala there is a new tower to watch the birds by the sea shore.Paddling
The river Merikarvianjoki is well-suited for paddling. It has streams for relaxed paddling but also rapids for more challenging advance. Canoes can be rented from hiking guide Juho Mäkipuro, tel. +358 (0) 41 466 6774 and he provides guide services also for paddling trips.
Birdwatching Site at Kasala Fishery Marina
Kasala fishery marina is located 22km north of the centre of Merikarvia. Signposts guide you to the marina from Rantatie road. Parking space, toilet, and a water faucet are available for tourists’ use.
